Overview
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the Revised First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) for the SSC Stenographer Grade C & D 2025 recruitment on 31 July 2026. This revised allocation covers a total of 1,715 posts, comprising 232 Grade C and 1,483 Grade D vacancies. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Grade C: Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized board or university.
- Grade D: Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized board or university.
- Typing Skill: Candidates must possess dictation and transcription skills in English or Hindi at the prescribed speed (100 wpm for Grade C, 80 wpm for Grade D).
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 27 years (as on the closing date of application, i.e., 27 December 2025)
- Age Relaxation: Applicable as per government norms for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and other reserved categories.
Application Fees
- General/OBC/EWS: ₹100
- SC/ST/PwBD/Women: No fee (exempted)
- Payment Mode: Online via SBI e-challan, net banking, or credit/debit card
Selection Process
- Computer Based Examination (CBE): A multiple-choice online test covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. It carries 200 marks and is conducted in March 2026.
- Skill Test (Typing Test): Candidates shortlisted from the CBE must appear for a typing skill test (qualifying in nature) to demonstrate dictation and transcription speed in English or Hindi.
- Document Verification & Allocation: Based on the CBE score (and typing test qualifying status), a merit list is prepared. The FRTA is released for department-wise allocation of candidates to various ministries and offices. A sliding process is conducted after the first round to allow candidates to opt for higher preferences, if available.
How to Apply
- Visit the Official Website: Go to ssc.gov.in and click on the "Apply" link under the Stenographer Grade C & D 2025 section.
- Register (if new): Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) by providing your name, email, and phone number. If already registered, log in directly.
- Fill the Application Form: Enter your personal, educational, and communication details. Select your preference for Grade C and/or Grade D, and choose your preferred cities for the exam and skill test.
- Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and required certificates in the specified format (photo: 20–50 KB, signature: 10–20 KB).
- Pay the Fee: If applicable, pay the ₹100 fee online. Ensure you keep a copy of the payment receipt.
- Submit and Print: Review all details, submit the form, and download a printout of the application for future reference.
