Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must hold a Graduate degree from a recognized university or institution.
- Candidates who have completed a degree through correspondence or distance education are also eligible, provided the university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
- Candidates should not have completed or be pursuing an apprenticeship earlier under the Apprentices Act, 1961, for a duration exceeding the prescribed limit.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 20 years
- Maximum Age: 28 years
- Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates, and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates as per government norms.
- Cut-off Date: Age will be calculated as of 01 January 2026.

Selection Process
The selection of candidates for the IOB Apprentice 2026 will be carried out in three stages:
- Online Written Examination – A computer-based test comprising objective-type questions on Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General/Financial Awareness. The exam carries a total of 100 marks.
- Local Language Test (Qualifying Only) – Candidates must pass a test of the local language (as applicable to the state where the candidate has applied). This test is qualifying in nature and does not carry any marks.
- Document Verification & Medical Examination – Shortlisted candidates from the written test will be called for verification of original documents and a medical fitness check before final appointment.
Candidates are advised to prepare comprehensively for the online exam, as the final merit list will be prepared based on performance in the written test only.
